Journal Mosaic: your journal, made into something you can see, hear and share

Most journals keep your days as text. Journal Mosaic can turn an entry into a painting, a short film or a piece of music, reflect it back to you through a companion that has read your journal, and, when you choose, share it to a community feed of other people's days.

~4 min spoken. Keeps playing while you work in another tab.

Journal Mosaic is our own app, free on the web, the App Store and Google Play. The product page has the full feature list.

Your day, as a painting

Write about an afternoon of rain at the window and tea going cold, and a minute later it can be a picture of exactly that. Choose a style such as watercolour, cinematic or anime, and, if you like, use a photo or your avatar as a reference. The artwork stays on the entry, so your journal fills up with images of your own days rather than a wall of text.

Each creation opens a dialog first. You see the prompt the app wrote from your entry and can edit it, pick a model, and see the exact credit cost before anything is made. If a model declines a prompt, the app says so plainly and charges nothing.

Or a short film, or the sound of it

The same entry can become a short looping film, animated from its artwork, a photo or your avatar. Or it can become an ambient track, composed for the entry in a genre and length you choose, that plays from the entry card and loops.

None of this is required. Writing and reflection never cost anything, and the free plan includes five creative credits to try all three. Mosaic Pro includes sixty-four a month.

A companion that has read your journal

The Reflect tab is a conversation with a companion that draws on your recent entries, not only the one in front of you. Ask what keeps coming back, how your mood has shifted, or what is giving you energy and what is draining it, and the answer quotes your own writing back to you. Any reply can become a new entry with one tap.

Choose how it talks: Listener is reflective, Coach is direct, Guide is calm, Muse is playful. Free accounts get ten companion messages a week, and Mosaic Pro adds unlimited conversations and a weekly reflection on the themes and moods of the last seven days.

The Mosaic

The Mosaic is a community feed of the days people choose to share, with the paintings and films they made from them. Nothing reaches it unless you send it. You can post under a name or anonymously, and share the words without the pictures if you would rather keep those to yourself. Readers leave emoji reactions and short comments, and anyone can browse it without an account.

Shared entries are checked automatically before they appear. Any post or comment can be reported, and anyone can be blocked, so their posts disappear for you and they can no longer comment on yours.

The everyday parts

Underneath, it is a journal that is easy to keep. A clean editor with prompts for the days the first line is hard, dictation when you would rather talk, a daily reminder at the time you choose, a streak, and On This Day for the same date in earlier years. You can start writing before you have an account. Search, filters and export are all free, and the Private Vault encrypts the entries that are only for you on your own device, where neither the companion nor we can read them.

Free, and what Pro adds

The journal is free: unlimited writing, sync across devices, the Private Vault, one journal, 500 MB for media, reminders and streaks, search and export, mood and tone analysis, the writing coach, dictation, the Mosaic, ten companion messages a week and five creative credits.

Mosaic Pro is $5.99 a month or $49.99 a year. It adds unlimited companion conversations, voice memos of up to three minutes that are transcribed into the entry, unlimited journals, the weekly reflection, 5 GB of storage, and sixty-four creative credits every month.

Where it runs

Any modern browser, Android, and iPhone and iPad on iOS 15 or later, with one free account syncing the same journal across all of them. There is no Mac, Windows or Apple Watch app; on a computer it runs in the browser.

We do not use your entries to train AI models, and the AI providers we use process your content only to return the result you asked for. Our Google Gemini use is on a paid tier, under terms where Google does not use prompts or responses to improve its models.
